The Gustavus women’s indoor track and field team compiled five individual event wins at the Pre-MIAC Meet held in the Macalester College Fieldhouse on Friday night in St. Paul. Individual event wins came from Abby Karl, Megan Lundgren, Janey Helland, Sam Broderius, and Diana Scott. Karl won the 400 meter dash (59.33), Lundgren won the 800 meter run (2:23.21), Helland won the long jump (18’ 1.75”), Broderius won the shot put (42’ 0.75”), and Scott won the weight throw (48’ 11.75). No team scores were kept at the meet.
Other top finishers in the track events included Brooke Beskau, Vanessa Jones, and Laura Sjoberg. Beskau finished second in the 3000 meter run (10:54.89), while Jones finished behind her in third place. Sjoberb finished third in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 9.29.
Holly Hoffman, Becca Bryson, and Ann Bauer all added second place finishes in the field events. Hoffman in the pole vault (9’ 1”), Bryson in the triple jump (33’ 5.75”), and Bauer in the weight throw (48’ 10.25). Lauren Rothschiller placed third in the triple jump, and Megan Endresen took third in the shot put.
The Gustavus women’s indoor track and field team will compete at the MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships held in Northfield, Minn. next weekend starting on Thursday, March 4.
