The Gustavus men’s track and field team competed in the Ted Nelson Classic hosted by MSU-Mankato in the Meyers Field House Saturday afternoon. No team scores were kept at the meet, yet the Gusties turned in 11 top five finishes at the meet.
The only individual event win of the day went to Cole Carlson. Carlson took first the 400 meter dash, crossing the finish line in 50.60. The 4 x 400 relay team of Cole Carlson, Max Hansen, Colby Citrowske, and John Kennedy also registered a win, crossing the finish line in 3:24.83. John Kennedy had a nice race in the 1000 meter run, taking second place with a time of 2:32.38. Brian Anderson had a good day in the field events where he took third in the weight throw (49′ 05.50″) and fifth in the shot put (48′ 2″). Other top finishers included Carl Stenoien, Jake Peymann, and Matt Dvorak. Stenoien and Peymann tied for fourth place in the high jump (5′ 10.75″) and Matt Dvorak finished fifth in the 60 meter dash (7.18).
The Gustavus men’s track and field team will compete at the Carleton Meet of Hearts on Feb. 13 at 11:00 am in Northfield.
Correction:
I notice an error in the article as Cole Carlson took first in the 400m dash, not the 200m. Also, the Gustie men had another first place performance as we won the men’s 4 x 400 relay with a time of 3:24.83. Members of the relay were Cole Carlson, Max Hansen, Colby Citrowske, and John Kennedy.
