Men’s Nordic Skiing Finishes Second At Minnesota College Relays

The Gustavus men's nordic ski team tied for second place with the College of St. Scholastica at the Minnesota College Relays hosted by Saint John's University Sunday afternoon in Collegeville, Minn. Gustavus tallied 11 team points as the pair of Anders Bowman and Jens Brabbit finished third overall with a time of 1:02.31. The University of Alaska-Fairbanks won the meet with 19 points.

Men’s Hockey Defeats Augsburg 3-2 To Complete Weekend Sweep

The Gustavus men's hockey team jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on for an important 3-2 win over Augsburg in Minneapolis on Saturday night. The Gusties got goals from Rory Dynan, Brad Wieck, and Joe Welch, while Josh Swartout registered 15 saves and picked up the win in goal.

Women’s Basketball Rallies To Defeat Bethel 60-53

The Gustavus women's basketball team extended its win streak to four straight with a hard-fought 60-53 win over the Bethel Royals in Arden Hills on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties trailed Bethel for a good portion of the contest before a 7-0 run in the final minutes allowed Coach Mickey Haller's squad to claim the important conference win. Molly Mathiowetz led the Gusties in scoring with 18 points.

Gymnastics Opens Season With 172.050-163.575 Loss To UW-Oshkosh

The Gustavus Gymnastics team opened the 2010 season with a 172.050-163.575 loss to UW-Oshkosh in the Lund Center Forum on Saturday night. Danielle Thibodeau was the top Gustavus performer by winning both the floor exercise and the vault with marks of 9.150 and 9.475, respectively. Thibodeau took second in the all-around (34.075), while UW-Oshkosh's Stacie Jenkins took first with a score of 34.300.

Men’s Basketball Suffers First MIAC Loss To Bethel 54-52

The Gustavus men's basketball team suffered it's first MIAC setback Saturday afternoon in Arden Hills, Minn. with a 54-53 loss to Bethel. Ryan McPartland scored a game-high 15 points and nine rebounds. Gustavus drops to 10-4 overall and 8-1 in the MIAC.

Meuwissen’s Early Goal Allows Women’s Hockey To Slip Past Saint Mary’s 1-0

The Gustavus women's hockey team got an early goal from Tam Meuwissen and held on for a 1-0 non-conference win over Saint Mary's at Don Robert's Ice Rink in St. Peter on Saturday afternoon. Danielle Justice and Emily Klatt combined to post the shutout in goal for Gustavus.

Records Broken As Women’s Swimming & Diving Defeats Carleton 160-140

The Gustavus women's swimming and diving team defeated Carleton 160-140 in a dual meet Friday night in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties won nine events as first year swimmer Carley Mosher led the team with three first place finishes including a pool and school record in the 200 backstroke (2:09.12).

Men’s Swimming & Diving Sinks Carleton 187-93

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team defeated Carleton 187-93 in a dual meet on Friday night in St. Peter, Minn. Gustavus tallied 12 event wins and eight second place finishes in the meet. Skylar Davis led the way with three first place finishes. Skylar won the 200 (1:46.14) and 500 freestyle (4:48.39), and the 200 IM (2:02.26).

Bigham’s Big Night Sparks Men’s Hockey Team To 6-2 Win Over Augsburg

Senior forward Eric Bigham scored two goals and assisted on two others to help the Gustavus men's hockey team post a convincing 6-2 win over Augsburg College at Don Roberts Ice Rink on Friday night. The Gusties led 2-0 after one period and 5-1 after two periods, before claiming the 6-2 victory. Bigham picked up assists on the first two Gustavus goals and then scored the Gusties third and sixth goals. Josh Swartout picked up the win in the nets.

Men’s Hockey Will Honor Brendan Loney On Feb. 12 At Hamline Game

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s hockey team will play host to the Hamline Pipers on Friday, February 12 and prior to the start of the game, the team will honor teammate Brendan Loney, a forward from Maple Grove, Minnesota, who was injured in a diving accident in July 2009.
