The Gustavus gymnastics team cheers before the start of the meet with UW-Oshkosh
The Gustavus Gymnastics team opened the 2010 season with a 172.050-163.575 loss to UW-Oshkosh in the Lund Center Forum on Saturday night. Danielle Thibodeau was the top Gustavus performer by winning both the floor exercise and the vault with marks of 9.150 and 9.475, respectively. Thibodeau took second in the all-around (34.075), while UW-Oshkosh’s Stacie Jenkins took first with a score of 34.300.
Gustavus registered individual event scores of 45.325 on the vault, 36.200 on the bars, 39.075 on the balance beam, and 42.975 on the floor exercise. UW-Oshkosh scored a 45.050 on the vault, 41.575 on the bars, 42.550 on the balance beam, and a 42.875 on the floor exercise.
Other individual event wins came from Titans Jill Lindberg and Stacie Jenkins. Lindberg won the balance beam with a mark of 9.175, and Jenkins won the parallel bars (8.700) and tied for first in in the floor exercise (9.150) with Thibodeau. The other top Gustavus performer was Samantha Opsahl who placed third in both the floor exercise (8.925) and balance beam (8.450).

The Gustavus gymnastics team will host Winona State University on Jan. 21, at 7:00 p.m. in the Lund Center Forum.
