The Gustavus men’s nordic ski team finished in third place (37 pts) at the Saints Invitational hosted by Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minn. on Sunday afternoon.  Sophomore Anders Bowman was the top Gustavus skier as he won the race with a time of 0:31:45.  Saint John’s won the meet with a total of 48 points while St. Scholastica took second with 39 points.

Bowman was able to out-sprint Saint John’s Grant Cook in the last half kilometer for the victory in the 12km skate race.  It was the second year in a row that Bowman has won the Saints Invitational.  Last year, Bowman, Jens Brabbit, and Andrew Poffenberger went 1-2-3 at the meet.  Other Gustavus finishers included Peter Larsen who finished 10th (0:35.08), Jon Kasprisin finished 12th (0:35.50), Derrick Berndt finished 14th (0:36.12), Andrew Tilman finished 15th (0:36.27), and Kory Freeberg took 20th (0:37.44).

St. Olaf finished in fourth with 26 points and Bethel took fifth with 11 points.

The Gustavus men’s nordic ski team will take part in the Minnesota College Relays on Jan. 17, in Collegeville, Minn.
