Men’s Soccer Loses To #5 Loras 2-0 Posted on October 10th, 2009 by

The Gustavus men’s soccer team saw its struggles continue with a 2-0 loss to #5 Loras College in Dubuque on Friday night. The Duhawks, who improved to 9-1-1, scored once in each half on their way to the 2-0 victory. The Gusties, who are now 0-3-1 in their past four games, fall to 4-4-3 on the season.

Loras took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Donald St. George in the 31st minute. Miguel Bonilla was credited with the assist. The Duhawks, who outshot the Gusties 10-5 in the first half, led 1-0 at the intermission.

Loras continued to control the match in the second half and extended its lead to 2-0 when St. George scored his second goal of the match in the 60th minute. Santiago Mejia was credited with the assist.

Luke Strom suffered the loss in the nets for Gustavus. He allowed two goals and registered three saves. Ben Kolis came in to play the final 25 minutes of the match. He made one save.

Gustavus will travel to Whitewater, Wis. where they will play UW-Whitewater at 1:00 pm on Sunday.
