The Gustavus volleyball team claimed a convincing 3-0 non-conference win over Waldorf College in St. Peter on Saturday. The set scores for the match were 25-15, 25-18, and 25-17. The Gusties had a balanced attack as Angela Ahrendt and Janey Helland registered eight kills each, while Meghan Gehring and Olivia Warren posted seven kills each. Malea Noennig recorded 20 assists.

In the first set, Gustavus got off to a slow start and trailed Waldorf 6-3, however the Gusties rallied to tie the score at 9-9. Gustavus pulled away after that outscoring Waldorf 16-6 and claiming the set 25-16. The Gusties registered 11 kills on 31 attempts with two errors for a solid .290 attack percentage in the first set.

In the second set, the Gusties got off to a fast start leading 13-5, but then had to hold off a Waldorf rally to claim the set 25-18. Gustavus recorded 14 kills in 31 attempts for a .258 attack percentage.

In the third and final set, Gustavus and Waldorf battled to a 10-10 tie, but then the Gusties scored nine straight points for a commanding 19-10 lead and then closed out the match with a 25-17 win.

The Gusties, who have now won two straight matches, will return to MIAC play with a match at home against Carleton on Wednesday at 7 pm.
