Football Team Begins Preparation For 2009 Season

New Head Football Coach Peter Haugen ushered in a new era in Golden Gustie football history by welcoming 120 players into camp to prepare for the 2009 season. The Gusties will have a new look under the direction of Haugen who will change from a spread offense to a two-back set as well as adjusting the approach to special teams. Senior quarterback Jordan Becker will lead an offense that returns seven starters, while senior All-American safety Joe Welch will lead a defense that also returns seven starters.

Volleyball Team Returns Veteran Group As Practice Begins For 2009 Season

Head Coach Kari Eckheart welcomed 20 players to campus on Wednesday, August 19 to begin pre-season practices for the 2009 season. The Gusties open regular season play with a contest against St. Olaf College at home on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 7 pm. Eckheart will build her squad around 11 letterwinners including senior captains Meghan Gehring and Tara Kramer.

Men’s Cross Country Returns To Prepare For 2009 Season

Gustavus men's cross country ushered in a new era as Head Coach Dale Bahr welcomed 21 runners to campus on Monday, August 24. The team returns five letterwinners from a year ago and will look to improve on the results last season where the Gusties finished sixth in the conference.

Women’s Soccer Team Reports For Pre-Season Workouts

Head Coach Mike Stehlik welcomed 30 players to campus on Tuesday, August 18 to begin pre-season practices for the 2009 season. The Gusties open regular season play with a contest at the University of Minnesota-Morris on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 2 pm. Stehlik will build his squad around 14 letterwinners including honorable mention All-Conference defenders Rachel Iblings and Alison Dittmer.

Women’s Cross Country Begins Preparation For 2009 Season

The Gustavus women's cross country team returned to campus on Monday, August 24 to begin its pre-season workouts for the 2009 season. New Head Coach Dale Bahr welcomed 27 runners to campus. The team returns eight letterwinners from a year ago and will look to improve on its seventh place finish at the MIAC Championships last season. Leading the returners will be All-Conference and All-Region performer Brooke Beskau.

Men’s Soccer Team Reports To Prepare For 2009 Season

Head Coach Larry Zelenz welcomed 42 players to campus on Tuesday, August 18 to begin pre-season practices for the 2009 season. The Gusties open regular season play with a contest against Bethany Lutheran College at home on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 4 pm. Zelenz will build his squad around 13 letterwinners including All-Region midfielder Fraser Horton and All-Conference defender Justin Eglseder.
