The National Golf Coaches Association announced its 2008-09 awards at the NCAA Division III Championships and four Gustavus golfers were honored by the NGCA. Kali Griggs received First Team All-America honors, while Katie Schenfeld received Second Team All-America honors. In addition, Griggs, Schenfeld, Kimbra Kosak, and Taylor Drenttel were named to the Midwest All-Region team. The Gusties are currently in fourth place at the 2009 NCAA Championships being held in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Junior Kali Griggs (Burnsville, Minn./Visitation)
played at the #1 position for the Gusties this season. She has posted nine top-ten finishes in the 10 tournaments Gustavus competed in during the past season, and did not finish lower than seventh place in those nine finishes. Griggs tied for fourth place out of 128 competitors at the Jekyll Island Invitational and earned second place at the St. Thomas Invitational this spring. In the fall, she tied for fourth at the MIAC Championships to help the Gusties win their first conference title. She has posted a stroke average of 80.3 this season. Griggs, who received Second Team All-America honors last year, is a three-time Midwest All-Region selection.

Sophomore Katie Schenfeld (Indianola, Iowa), who played at the #2 position for the Gusties this season, posted five top-five finishes in 10 tournaments including medalist honors at the St. Thomas Invitational and the Gustavus Quadrangular this spring and a runner-up finish at the Division III Midwest Classic in the fall. She also finished the MIAC Championships tied for fourth place. This is the first time Schenfeld, who has an 80.6 stroke average, has received an All-America honor.

Senior Kimbra Kosak (Grand Rapids, Minn.)
, who played at the #3 position, received Midwest All-Region honors for the second consecutive season. Kosak turned in seven top-ten finishes this season with her best results being a second place finish at the Wartburg Invitational in September and tying for second at the MIAC Championships. She has recorded an 82.5 stroke average. Kosak received honorable mention All-America honors in 2007 and 2008, as well as being named the Division III Kim Moore Spirit Award Winner in 2008.

First-year Taylor Drenttel (Eagan, Minn.), who played at the #4 position, was selected to the Midwest All-Region Team. Drenttel posted an 83.5 stroke average, as she recorded five top-ten finishes in the 10 events. Her top result was at the St. Thomas Invitational where she finished fourth this spring. She also tied for 10th place at the Wartburg Fall Invitational out of 101 golfers.
