Men’s Tennis Selected To Host NCAA Regional This Weekend

The Gustavus men’s tennis team has been selected to host one of eight NCAA Regional Tournaments this weekend. Play will begin on Friday, May 8 with Luther (36-5) facing Concordia (Wis.) (14-10) in one of two first round matches. The University of Wisconsin at Whitewater (21-8) will face the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire (24-9) in the other first round match. On Saturday, May 9, Gustavus (25-8) will play the winner of the UW-Whitewater/UW-Eau Claire match in the second round. The other second round match has the University of Texas at Tyler (19-6) facing the winner of the Luther/Concordia (Wis.) match. The winner’s of Saturday’s matches will play on Sunday, May 10 for the opportunity to advance to the NCAA Team Championship which will be held May 19-21 at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in Claremont, Calif. Times have not yet been determined for any of the matches this weekend.

Gustavus, which will be appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the 26th time, will be making its 16th consecutive appearance. The Gusties have won the NCAA Championship twice (1980 and 1982).
