Gustavus shortstop Rachael Click has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Player of the Week for the week ending April 26, the association announced Wednesday. The senior standout was named the MIAC Player of the Week for the second consecutive week on Monday.
The Rochester, Minn., native helped the Gusties post a record of 5-1 and claim the MIAC title outright as she compiled a .647 batting average, 1.411 slugging percentage, and .714 on-base percentage. Click was 11-for-17 at the plate with one double, four home runs and two stolen bases. She was also perfect in the field with six putouts and seven assists.
The Gusties split a critical series with St. Thomas as Click went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored. The Tommies walked her three times in the doubleheader. Against Concordia, Click was 4-for-7 with two home runs and then in the regular season finale against St. Kate’s she was 5-for-7 with two home runs and a double.
The senior won the MIAC batting title for the second time in the last three years with a .529 average. She also finished first in slugging percentage (1.216), on-base percentage (.594), RBI (27), home runs (10), total bases (62), and walks (11). Click also set the school record for home runs in a season with 12 and became only the third player in MIAC history to hit 30 home runs (31) in a career. The Gusties are currently 32-4 overall and won the MIAC title with a record of 21-1.
Click is the first Gustavus player to ever receive this honor.
