The Gustavus women’s golf team won its own Gustavus Quadrangular with a team score of 327. Other team scores included Gustavus Black in second place at 354, St. Olaf in third at 364, and MSU, Mankato Purple in fourth place at 376. The tournament was shortened from 36 to 18 holes after heavy rains forced cancellation of Sunday’s round scheduled for North Links Golf Course in North Mankato, Minn. Katie Schenfeld finished first individually with a score of 78.
Seven Gustavus golfers placed in the top ten individually including Schenfeld (1st), Amanda Johnson (2nd – 79), Taylor Drenttel (tie for 4th – 83), Kali Griggs (tie for 4th – 83), Amanda Woodhull (tie for 4th – 83), Annie Jackson (7th – 85), and Kimbra Kosak (9th – 87).
The Gusties will now spend the next two weeks preparing for the NCAA Championships, which will take place May 13-16 at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Gustavus is rated #3 in the most recent National Golf Coaches Association poll, behind Methodist at #1, and UW-Stevens Point at #2.
