The Gustavus softball team split two games in Tucson, Arizona on Tuesday. The Gusties lost to Pacific University (Oregon) 7-3 and then defeated Buena Vista University (Storm Lake, Iowa) 7-1. The Gusties are now 10-3 on the season. They will wrap up their Spring Break trip tomorrow with a game against Taylor University (Indiana).
Game 1 Pacific 7 Gustavus 3
Gustavus scored all three of its runs in the third inning and the score was tied 3-3 after three innings. Pacific scored three in the sixth and one in the seventh to claim the 7-3 win. Emily Klein had three hits to lead Gustavus. Erin Truebenbach was the losing pitcher for the Gusties. She struck out six.
Game 2 Gustavus 7 Buena Vista 1
Gustavus pounded out nine hits. Leigh Weber led the way with three hits. Kirsten Prunty picked up two hits. Callie Nelsen was outstanding on the mound for the Gusties as she struck out nine and limited the Beavers to four hits. She threw all seven innings.
