The 15th-ranked Gustavus Adolphus men’s hockey team is preparing for the 2009 NCAA Division III Men’s Hockey Championship this weekend in Lake Placid, N.Y. The Gusties, who are 18-10-0, will face second-ranked UW-Stout, which is 23-5-2, on Friday, March 20 at 3 p.m. (4 p.m. EST). Fans unable to make the trip to Herb Brooks Arena can watch the NCAA’s webcast of the game on a PC computer only at NCAA.com. Live stats can also be accessed here.

Gustavus earned its second appearance to the NCAA Semifinals by defeating UW-Superior 2-0 in the quarterfinal round on Saturday, March 14. The last time the Gusties appeared in the semifinal round was during the 1981-82 season when they lost to Plattsburgh State 4-3.

The Blue Devils are making their first appearance in the Frozen Four after defeating St. Scholastica 2-1 in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 14. UW-Stout is riding a 15-game unbeaten streak dating back to January 9 when the Blue Devils lost to Concordia-Moorhead 4-1.

Sixth-ranked Hobart and 12th-ranked Neumann will meet in the other semifinal game at 6:30 p.m (7:30 p.m. EST). The Championship game is set for Saturday, March 21 at 4 p.m. (5 p.m. EST).
