Relays Power Men’s Indoor Track and Field In Second Day of MIAC Championships, Finishes Eighth Posted on March 7th, 2009 by

The 4×200 and 4×400 relay teams garnered all-conference honors as the Gustavus men’s indoor track and field team finished in eighth place with 50 points at the MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Concordia College. The 4×200 meter relay team consisting of of Tyler Geyen (Sr., Watertown, Minn.), Cole Carlson (Jr., Mora, Minn.), Matt Leeb (So., Kasota, Minn.), and Matt Dvorak (Fy., Burnsville, Minn.) captured second place with a time of 1:30.35. The 4×400 meter relay team of Carlson, Geyen, Colby Citrowske (So., Canby, Minn.), and Leeb earned third by crossing the finish line in 3:21.46.

St. Thomas won its 25th straight team title with 178.5 points, followed by Hamline with 111, Bethel with 98, St. Olaf with 90.5, Saint John’s with 75, Concordia with 62, Carleton with 55, Gustavus with 50, Augsburg with 34, Macalester with 15, and Saint Mary’s with 10.

Other notable Gustie performances came from Max Hanson (So., Montrose, Minn.), who earned all-conference honors by placing third in the 600 meters (1:14.38), junior Brian Anderson (Bloomington, Minn.), who finished fourth in the shot put (49′ 5.75″), and Colby Citrowske, who placed ninth in the 200 meters (22.95).
