Members of the Gustavus men’s indoor track and field team competed at the MSU Open hosted by Minnesota State University, Mankato on Saturday. Tyler Geyen (Sr., Watertown, Minn.) turned in the top individual performance by a Gustie as he won the 60 meter hurdles in 8.30 seconds for the second straight meet. Geyen also finished 12th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.23. No team scores were kept at the meet.
In other running events, Colby Citrowske (So., Canby, Minn.) finished 15th in the 200 meters (23.45), while Cristian Raether (Fy., Pasadena, Calif.) was 11th in the 800 meters (2:11.68).
In the field events, Chris Golv (So., Forest Lake, Minn.) was fifth in the high jump at a height of 6′ 1.5″ and tenth in the long jump (19′ 11.5″). Jordan VanDorp (Jr., Buffalo, Minn.) was tenth in the pole vault after clearing 13′ 7.75″. In the shot put, two Gustie throwers turned in top ten finishes as Aaron Thauwald (Fy., Spring Valley, Minn.) took seventh (39′ 10.5″) and Dane Mellgren (Fy., Cologne, Minn.) was tenth (35′ 8.75″).
The Gusties will next compete at the Meet of the Hearts hosted by Carleton in Northfield on Saturday, February 14.
