Gustavus Adolphus football players junior T.J. Ridley (Edina, Minn.) and senior Ted Aleckson (Weston, Wis./DC Everest) have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V College Division Teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Ridley, a safety who carries a 3.96 grade point average with a major in Biology and Pre-Med, was named to the first team, while Aleckson, a defensive lineman who has a 3.79 GPA in elementary education, was named to the second team. A total of nine MIAC players were recognized on either the first or second team.
Ridley has recorded 34 tackles (18 solo) this season and broken up one pass. He has also caught two of the Gustie defense’s 18 interceptions. Ridley is also a forward on the Gustavus men’s hockey team. By virtue of making the first team, he will advance to the national ballot.
Aleckson, one of four team captains, is second among Gustavus defensive linemen with 30 tackles (14 solo) this season in nine games played. In addition, Aleckson has four tackles for loss and 2.5 quarterback sacks.
The Gusties (6-3 overall, 4-3 MIAC) will close out their season against Concordia at Hollingsworth Field on Saturday, Nov. 15 with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
Ridley is the son of Jeff and Cindy Ridley of Edina and a 2006 graduate of Edina High School. Aleckson is the son of Paul and Susan Aleckson of Weston and a 2005 graduate of DC Everest High School.
