Gustavus Adolphus junior quarterback Jordan Becker (Easton, Minn./Blue Earth Area) and senior defensive lineman Brian Berglund (Lauderdale, Minn./Roseville Area) have been named MIAC Football Players of the Week for their roles in a 30-29 overtime win over Carleton College last Saturday. Becker was named MIAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Berglund was named MIAC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Becker compiled 244 yards of total offense after he went 17-of-31 in the air for 203 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions, and rushed for 41 yards on 11 carries with a touchdown. In the second half, Becker completed four third-down passes longer than eight yards to sustain two scoring drives including a 21-yard touchdown pass on third-and-16 in the third quarter.

Berglund blocked the potentially game-winning extra point attempt with ten seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, forcing the contest into overtime. In overtime, Berglund was credited with another blocked point after attempt giving the Gusties the victory.

With the win, Gustavus improved to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the MIAC. This was the first win for the Gusties over a ranked team since 2001 when Gustavus defeated sixth-ranked Trinity (TX) 37-26.

Gustavus will face Augsburg College (4-2 overall, 2-2 MIAC) at Hollingsworth Field in St. Peter on Saturday at 1 p.m.
