Former Gustavus men’s tennis player Eric Butorac, has reached yet another milestone in his young professional career, as he has advanced to the semifinals of the mixed doubles draw at the U.S. Open. Butorac and his partner Jill Craybas, will face Liezel Huber and Jamie Murray for the chance to advance to the final on Tuesday evening (Sept. 5).

Butorac and Craybas opened the tournament by upsetting #3 seeds Ai Sugiyama and Kevin Ullyet, 6-4, 6-4 and then posted another surprise win by knocking off Lisa Raymond and Marcelo Melo in the second round 7-5, 7-5. The new duo then advanced to the semifinals with a 6-7 (7), 6-4, 10-4 win over Flavia Pennetta and Dusan Vemic.
