The Golden Gusties from Gustavus Adolphus earned their 12th consecutive trip to the NCAA Team Quarterfinal Round after defeating Wheaton College 5-2 on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter. The Gusties, who are now 24-8 overall, will compete at the NCAA Team Championships on May 13-15 in St. Peter, as Gustavus is the host institution for the national tournament this year. Wheaton finished its season at 22-4.

Gustavus and Wheaton were tied at 1-1 after the Gusties earned the point at #2 doubles when Sam Frank and Ali O’Neal defeated Brooke Parrish and Shannon Hale 8-0. The Thunder quickly evened the score when Brittney Dunn and Kayli Edwards defeated Jenny Arnfelt and Laura Arnebeck 8-5 at #3 doubles. Jenni White and Sierra Krebsbach battled to an 8-6 victory over Jordan Hook and Sara Federschmidt at #1 doubles to give the Gusties a 2-1 edge heading into singles play.

Gustavus earned its third point after Sam Frank defeated Brittney Dunn 6-1, 6-2 at the #4 singles spot. Sierra Krebsbach pushed the lead to 4-1 for the Gusties as she defeated Shannon Hale 6-2, 6-0 at #2 singles. Wheaton stayed in the match when Jordan Hook, the third-rated singles player in Division III, defeated Jenni White 6-2, 6-4. However, Erica Dobson sealed the win for Gustavus when she defeated Sara Federschmidt in a close 7-5, 6-4 match at #5 singles.
