The Gustavus women’s tennis team defeated St. Olaf 9-0 in Northfield on Monday as the Gusties claimed sole possession of its 17th consecutive MIAC title and the top seed in the MIAC Post-Season Championships. With the victory, Gustavus extended its conference regular season dual match winning streak to 176 matches dating back to 1990. The Gusties improved to 20-8 overall and 10-0 in the MIAC, while St. Olaf dropped to 6-5 overall and 5-4 in league play.

With rain threatening, singles matches were played before doubles matches. Gustavus earned two points from Ali O’Neal and Erica Dobson, who won their matches 6-0, 6-0 at #2 and #4 singles, respectively. The Gusties’ Christine Reimer broke St. Olaf’s Maddy Buck one time in the first set to win the set 6-4, before winning the second set 6-1 in what proved to be the closest singles match of the day. Gustavus also received victories from Jenni White (#1), Sam Frank (#3), and Jenny Arnfelt (#5) for a 6-0 lead heading into doubles play, and the match decided.

The Gusties completed the shutout with victories in all doubles matches. Jenni White and Erica Dobson defeated Sarah Carlson and Aimee Ny 8-4 at the #1 doubles position, while Sam Frank and Ali O’Neal defeated Abigail Ho and Anna Klenke 8-2 at #2 doubles. Jenny Arnfelt and Christine Reimer defeated Ida Holdahl and Sarah Magnuson 8-5 in the #3 doubles spot.
