The Gustavus women’s golf team kicked off its spring schedule with a first-place finish at the Wartburg Invitational at Centennial Golf Course, site of the 2008 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships, in Waverly, Iowa on Sunday. The Gusties shot 319 on the second day of competition for a two-day total of 329-319–648, which was 18 strokes ahead of second-place finisher Illinois Wesleyan. Gustavus was led by Rachel Roberg, who finished fourth with a total of 80-80–160.

Three golfers finished within two strokes of each other including Roberg, Kali Griggs, who placed fifth at 84-77–161, and Katie Schenfeld, who placed sixth with a total of 83-79–162. Kimbra Kosak finished just outside the top ten in 11th with a total of 82-85–167, while Amanda Johnson finished in a tie for 17th with a total of 90-83-173. Individually, Lauren Runsvold shot a final score of 89-80–169 and tie for 12th-place.

The next meet for Gustavus will be on April 12-13 in the Carleton Invitational at the Northfield Golf Course.
