Baseball Team Splits Doubleheader With Williams, Moves To 7-5 On The Season Posted on March 24th, 2008 by

The Gustavus baseball team continued its spring break trip to Chandler, Arizona by splitting a doubleheader with Williams College. The Gusties lost game one 9-2, but bounced back to win game two 6-0. Gustavus, which is now 7-5 on the season, will face MIT in a doubleheader on Tuesday.

The Gusties never got going in the first game as they managed only three hits and committed six errors in the field. Dave Wold was the tough luck starter for Gustavus as he allowed five earned runs on nine hits in five innings of work. No player registered more than one hit for Gustavus in the game.

In the second game, freshman pitcher Cody Sukalski turned in the finest performance of his young career as he fired a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits, while striking out five. The Gusties registered seven hits and scored at least one run in every inning but the fifth. Tyler Kaus led the way with two hits in four at-bats with one RBI, while Robby Wiens also had a big day with two hits in three at-bats.
