Gustavus Adolphus College senior forward Molly Doyle (Richfield, Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending March 9, 2008. Doyle scored the game-winning goal at 17:14 in the third period to give Gustavus a 1-0 victory over St. Thomas in the MIAC Playoff Championship game on Wednesday night in St. Peter.

Doyle recorded her third power play goal of the season as the Gusties won the post-season title game for the fifth consecutive season over St. Thomas and clinched a berth in the NCAA Women’s Hockey Tournament. Doyle, Gustavus’ fifth-ranked all-time leading scorer at 131 points (68g, 63a), has compiled two goals and three assists in eight MIAC post-season games, including an assist on the game-winning goal in the 2007 title game.

The Gusties, who are currently ranked #2 in the USCHO.com Division III poll, are 25-2-0 overall and own the best winning percentage in Division III Women’s Hockey.

This marks the fifth time this season a member of the Gustavus women’s hockey team has been recognized. The others were Stefanie Ubl (Feb. 4), Jessica Doig (Jan. 14), Laura Vannelli (Dec. 17), and Mari Gunderson (Nov. 19).

Doyle, an English major, is the daughter of Steven Doyle of Inver Grove Heights, Minn. and Laura Christoff Doyle of Richfield, Minn. Doyle is also a 2004 graduate of Eagan High School.
