Women’s Track and Field Team in Fourth Place After First Day of MIAC Indoor Championships

The Gustavus women’s indoor track and field team is in fourth place after the first full day of the MIAC Indoor Championships which are being held at Saint John’s University. Kaelene Lundstrum picked up her second first place finish of the championships as she won the high jump with an effort of 5 feet, 3 inches. The conference meet will conclude on Saturday afternoon.

St. Thomas leads the meet after the first day with 119 points, followed by Concordia with 63, Bethel with 52, Gustavus with 45, St. Ben’s with 38, Carleton with 36, St. Kate’s with 22, Hamline with 19, Macalester with 12, St. Olaf with 11, Augsburg with 10, and Saint Mary’s with 2.

Senior Sari Lindeman turned in the second best performance of the day as she placed second in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 10 1/2 inches.

The Distance medley relay team, which consisted of Sam Madsen, Chelsea Craven, Megan Lundgren, and Laura Secor, finished third in a time of 12:48.32.

Other point scorers for the team on the first day included Megan Lundgren finishing fourth in the 400 meters (60.32), Anna Bauer finishing 5th in the weight throw (47-7 1/4), Sarah Bernhardson placing 8th in the 5,000 meters (19:03.80) and Diana Scott placing 8th in the weight throw (46-4 3/4).
