Kaelene Lundstrum, a sophomore from Bird Island, Minnesota won the Pentathlon at the MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships with a school and conference record total of 3,342 points on Thursday evening. The previous school record of 3,036 points was set in 1994 by Kristen Denato. The previous conference record was 3,317 points set by Ashley Dingles of Saint Mary’s in 2005.

In the men’s heptathlon, Gustavus senior Drew Hood is in fourth place after the first day with 2,403 points. Carl Stenoien, a freshman, is in 12th place with 2,004 points. The pentathlon concludes tomorrow, while the rest of the meet begins in earnest.

The meet, which is being held at the University of Saint John’s, runs through Saturday afternoon.
