Gustavus Adolphus College senior forward Mike Butterworth (Katy, Texas) has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America team. Butterworth, the 2007 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Player of the Year, was named a third team All-America honoree. He was the only player from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honored this year.

Butterworth, a two-time NSCAA All-West region selection (2006, 2007), spent the 2007 season as the catalyst of a Gustie offense that was fourth in the MIAC in goals scored with 36, including 15 in conference play. He led the team with 15 goals and 33 points and is tied for eighth place all-time on the Gustavus career goals list with 26. Butterworth is also tied for eighth on the Gustavus career points list with 67.

Butterworth is the seventh Gustavus player named to the NSCAA All-America team. The Gusties have had at least one player named to the NSCAA honor squad six times in the past eight years.

Gustavus earned a share of the MIAC Championship for the fourth consecutive year. The Gusties went on to win the MIAC Playoff Championship and earned a berth into the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive season. Butterworth helped the Gusties compile a record of 16-4-1 overall and 9-1-0 in the MIAC.
