The Gustavus women’s soccer team fell to 4-4 overall and 0-3 in the MIAC with a 1-0 loss to the College of St. Benedict on Saturday afternoon. The Blazers got a goal from Allyson Draxler in the 15th minute of the match and that was all they would need to slip past the Gusties. Goalkeeper Chelsea Bayer made 11 saves for Gustavus.

The Gusties best chance to score in the match came with 1:30 left in regulation play as junior forward Christy Tupy beat a Blazer defender and poked a shot towards the lower right corner. St. Ben’s goalkeeper Shannon Strohm dove to make the save keeping the Gusties off of the scoreboard and preserving the shutout for the Blazers.

St. Ben’s outshot the Gusties 19-9 in the match. The Blazers used the wind to dominate Gustavus in the first half outshooting the Gusties 13-2. Each team recorded five corner kicks in the game.

Chelsea Bayer made 11 saves and suffered the loss in the nets. Shannon Strohm made three saves for St. Ben’s.
