The first day of the 2007 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional Women’s Tennis Tournament is complete and there were no major upsets involving the top seeds in either singles or doubles play. Windy weather conditions forced regional tournament play inside after the opening round of singles play in the morning. Play will begin again at 9 am on Saturday morning.

Tournament officials decided to play three rounds of doubles play and one round of singles play due to the fact that play was forced inside. The original schedule called for two rounds of singles play and two rounds of doubles play.

The seeds in the doubles draw held as the top four seeds advanced to the semifinal round. The #1 seeded team of Jenni White and Sierra Krebsbach will face the #3 seeded team of Molly Fiala and Andrea Schupach of Coe in one semifinal match, while the #2 seeded team of Jordan Hook and Lindsey Hallett of Wheaton will face the #3 seeded team of Gina Klein and Taylor Gustafson of Carthage.

In singles play, the top 10 seeds all advanced through the first round of play. The second round of the singles draw will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday morning at the Brown Outdoor Courts and the Gibbs Outdoor Courts on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. The second, third, and quarterfinal round of the singles draw will be played on Saturday.

The semifinal doubles matches will be played late Saturday afternoon.
