Women’s Soccer Falls to Concordia-Moorhead 4-2 Posted on September 16th, 2007 by

The Gustavus women’s soccer team fell to 0-2 in the MIAC with a 4-2 loss at Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday afternoon. Becca Hagen and Amy Kunkel scored in the second half for the Gusties. Ashley Ohlson made five saves and suffered the loss in the nets for Gustavus.

The Cobbers jumped out to a 2-0 first half lead on goals by Maia Johnson and Megan Rice. Concordia outshot the Gusties 12-1 in the first 45 minutes.

Concordia increased its lead to 3-0 when Susan Obermiller scored just two minutes into the second half. The Gusties cut the lead to 3-1 when Amy Kunkel scored an unassisted goal in the 65th minute. The Cobbers extended their lead back to three goals when Rachel Lewis scored in the 74th minute. Gustavus closed out the scoring in the 77th minute when Becca Hagen scored an unassisted goal.

Gustavus goalkeeper Ashley Ohlson turned away 11 shots, but suffered the loss in the nets. The Cobbers outshot the Gusties 19-5.

The Gusties will face non-conference foe Luther in St. Peter on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm.
