The Gustavus women’s golf team posted a strong final round score of 328 (+36) and finished third at the NCAA Championships out of 20 teams. The 72-hole tournament, was played at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howie-in-the-Hills, Florida. The Gusties have now finished second (last year) and third in the past two years. Sophomore Kimbra Kosak (Grand Rapids, Minn.) wrapped up a very strong tournament with a final round score of 78 (+5). Kosak finished fifth overall (out of 111) with a 72-hole total of 76-77-83-79–314.

Methodist University won the team title for the tenth consecutive year. The Monarchs posted a 72-hole total of 303-309-303-300–1215. DePauw University placed second at 336-327-321-319–1303, while the Gusties were third at 332-334-324-328–1318.

Kosak’s fifth place finish led Gustavus, however senior Breanne Staples (Windom, Minn.) also had a big week as she finished in a tie for 15th place with a total of 86-79-79-80–324. Other finishes for the Gusties included Rachel Roberg (Jr., Rice Lake, Wis.), who tied for 35th with a total of 84-88-82-82–336, Kali Griggs (Fy., Burnsville, Minn.), who tied for 64th with a total of 86-95-80-93–354, and Amanda Johnson (Fy., Bemidji, Minn.), who tied for 76th with a total of 92-90-93-88–363.
