Women’s Tennis Team Finishes Third at Midwest Invitational Posted on April 8th, 2007 by

The Gustavus women’s tennis team finished third out of 11 teams at the Midwest Invitational played in Madison, Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday. The Gusties, who were seeded #2, defeated Washington University of St. Louis 6-0 in the quarterfinal round, then lost to #3 seed Denison University 5-3 in the semifinals, before finishing the tournament with a 5-1 win over Carthage in the third place match. DePauw defeated Denison 6-0 to finish first.

This is the first time in the past 11 years that Gustavus has not finished first or second at the Midwest Invitational. The Gusties had finished in 1st place seven times and 2nd place three times in the past 10 years.

Gustavus is now 15-5 overall and 3-0 in the MIAC.
