Vadnais, Monahan Named to d3hoops.com All-Region Team

d3hoops.com released its 2006-07 All-Region team and senior post Bri Monahan and junior guard Jess Vadnais were both named to the West Region First Team. Monahan and Vadnais were key parts of a Gustavus team that posted a 22-6 record and participated in the NCAA Tournament.

d3hoops.com released its 2006-07 All-Region team and senior post Bri Monahan and junior guard Jess Vadnais were both named to the West Region First Team. Monahan and Vadnais were key parts of a Gustavus team that posted a 22-6 record and participated in the NCAA Tournament.

Monahan, a Hutchinson, Minn. native, was one of ten finalists for the 2006-07 Josten’s Division III Player of the Year Award. She graduated as the program’s all-time leading scorer with 1,466 points and finished her career ranked in the top ten in eight different statistical categories. In addition to her prowess on the court, Monahan stars off the court as well compiling a 3.6 grade point average with a major in studio art. She is a three-time Academic All-Conference selection and a two-time CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honoree.

Vadnais, a Hudson, Wis. native, was the 2006-07 MIAC Player of the Year. She led the conference in scoring with an average of 18.9 points per game and she broke the school record for points in a season with 523 points. She also shattered the school record for free throws made in a season with 169 (the previous mark was 103) and she tied the record for three-point field goals made with 62.

Vadnais and Monahan have also both been named finalists for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA)/Kodak All-America team which will be announced later this week.
