Gundersen Places 13th in 1650 Freestyle, Women’s Swimming Finishes 30th at NCAA Championships Posted on March 10th, 2007 by

Carrie Gundersen’s 13th place finish in the 1650 freestyle helped the Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team to a 30th place finish at the NCAA Championships with a total of 28 points. The three-day championship was held at the University of Houston’s Recreation Center.

Gundersen’s time of 17:33.08 broke the school record she had set at the MIAC Championships two weeks ago (17:44.55) by over 11 seconds.

Sarah Koepp finished 25th in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:25.96.

In the 400 free relay, the Gusties missed a spot in the consolation finals by .3 tenths of a second. The team placed 17th but did not score.

Gustavus posted the highest team finish by any MIAC instititution at the NCAA Championships as Carleton placed 38th and St. Olaf placed 39th.
