Women’s Tennis Sweeps Hamline 9-0; Dual With Southwest State Postponed Posted on March 3rd, 2007 by

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s tennis team improved to 5-2 overall with a 9-0 win over Hamline Saturday at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter. Gustavus’ evening match with Southwest Minnesota State at the Swanson Tennis Center was postponed. No makeup date has been announced.

The Gusties got off to a quick start taking two of three doubles matches by an 8-0 score and the third 8-4. Lauren Hom (Sr., Stevens Point, Wis.) and Sierra Krebsbach (Fy., North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View) defeated Kristen Bothun and Kelly Gust 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, Jaime Gaard (Sr., Edina, Minn.) and Hannah Frericks (Sr., Sartell, Minn.) topped Andrea Eilertson and Liz Gunderson 8-4 at the No. 2 position, and Jenni White (Jr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) and Darcy Haubrick (Sr., Elk River, Minn./Elk River) swept Stephanie England and Trina Ellis 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Hom downed Bothun 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 1 position, Gaard defeated Gust 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2, and White topped Gunderson 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3. Frericks stopped Eilertson 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 4 position, while Krebsbach swept Englund 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Haubrick defeated Ellis 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 6 position.

Gustavus returns to the court next Saturday when the host Augustana (S.D.) in a dual and send portions of the team to Bethel and NCAA Division I Drake.
