Gustavus Adolphus College junior guard Jess Vadnais (Hudson, Wis.) has been named MIAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Vadnais averaged 17.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game to help the Gusties claim important MIAC victories over St. Olaf (80-56), Carleton (68-48), and Macalester (58-42) last week.

Vadnais scored 22 points in the Gusties win at St. Olaf on Monday night, and then added 19 points in Wednesday’s win against second place Carleton in St. Peter on Wednesday and finished with 13 points in Saturday’s win at Macalester. Vadnais leads the team in scoring with an average of 18.1 points per game. The Gusties are now 13-2 overall and 10-2 in the MIAC (second place).

Gustavus will have another busy week in league play with a game at Augsburg on Monday, back home against Bethel on Wednesday, and then at home against first place St. Ben’s on Saturday. Vadnais will likely reach a significant career milestone this week as she is 15 points away from becoming the eighth player in the history of the Gustavus women’s basketball program to score 1,000 points.
