The Gustavus men’s hockey lost to the College of St. Scholastica 3-2 on Saturday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter. The Saints scored the game-winner with 2:07 left inf regulation play.

Gustavus trailed 1-0 in the second period when Matt Andres scored at the 2:00 minute mark to tie the score at 1-1. The Gusties took the lead at 2-1 nine minutes later when Jon Keseley scored a power play goal at the 11:16 mark. St. Scholastica tied the score at 2-2 with 2:20 left in the second period on a goal by Matt Stengl. The game remained tied deep into the game until Shawn Bartlette scored the game-winner for the Saints.

Gustavus outshot St. Scholastica 35-17 in the contest. Joel Rindelaub made 14 saves in a losing effort for Gustavus while Tyler Johnson made 33 saves and picked up the win for the Saints. Gustavus falls to 0-3-1 with the loss, while St. Scholastica improves to 3-1-0 with the victory.

Gustavus opens MIAC play next weekend with two games in Moorhead against Concordia.
