Gustavus Adolphus junior football player Jared Sieling (Watertown, Minn. / Watertown-Mayer) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V College Division Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Sieling, a linebacker, carries a 3.79 grade point average with a major in physics. A total of 13 MIAC players were recognized on either the first or second team.

Sieling, one of four team captains, leads the Gusties this season with 68 tackles (29 solo) and sits fifth on the Gustavus career tackles list with 262 career stops. Sitting fourth on the list is Sieling’s older brother Isaac, who made 266 stops for the Gusties during his All-America career (2001-04). In addition, Sieling has 6.5 tackles for loss, two quarterback sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery for the Gusties.

The Gusties (5-4 overall, 3-4 MIAC), winners of three straight, close out their season Saturday, Nov. 11 at Carleton in Northfield.

Sieling is the son of Dan and Lori Sieling of Watertown and a 2003 graduate of Watertown-Mayer High School.
