Gustavus senior Amy Larson (Bloomington, Minn.) scored a goal and an assisted on another to lead the Gustie women’s soccer team to a 3-2 win over St. Thomas Tuesday afternoon in St. Paul. Gustavus scored three consecutive goals after falling behind 1-0 in the 8th minute.

The Tommies posted the game’s first goal in as Sarah Balgord placed a shot past Gustie goalkeeper Ashley Ohlson (So., Anchorage, Alaska) to give St. Thomas a 1-0 lead. Gustavus knotted the score just 90 seconds later as sophomore Callie Christensen (Bloomington, Minn.) found the back of the net.

Gustavus added to its lead in the 33rd minute as Larson notched her team-leading fifth goal of the season. Larson also assisted on Jenna Iaizzo’s (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) eventual game-winner in the 53rd minute to give the Gusties a 3-1 lead.

St. Thomas’ Erin Sprangers pulled the Tommies to within a goal at 3-2 with a score in the 55th minute, but they would get no closer.

With three points (1g, 1a) against St. Thomas, Larson moved into 12th place on the career scoring chart with 50 points (19g, 12a), one point behind Samantha Engh (2002-05; 22g-7a-51pts). Larson’s 12 assists is also tied for 10th all-time.

Ohlson picked up the win in net for Gustavus, making 10 saves. Her Tommy counterpart, Kaisa Erickson, made six saves.

The Gusties (5-6-2, 2-4-2 MIAC) will step out of league play this weekend to face UW-Stevens Point on Sunday afternoon in Stevens Point, Wis.
