The Gustavus Adolphus women’s soccer team picked up another point in the MIAC standings Saturday, playing to a 1-1 draw with St. Olaf in St. Peter. The Oles (5-3-1, 1-3-1 MIAC) took the lead with an early second-half goal by Katie Bierlein off a corner kick, but the Gusties (3-5-2, 1-3-2 MIAC) answered in the 84th minute as Jenna Iaizzo (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) knotted the game.

Gustavus outshot the Oles 5-0 in 20 minutes of extra time, but could not put a game-winner through. For the match, the Gusties had a 15-9 shot advantage, but the Oles had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. Ashley Ohlson (So., Anchorage, Alaska) picked up the draw in net for Gustavus, allowing one goal and making seven saves in 110 minutes of play, while St. Olaf’s Anna Feigum made nine save while allowing one goal over the same span.

Iaizzo took a game-high five shots during the match, while Amy Larson (Sr., Bloomington, Minn.) added three for the Gusties. Bierlein and Kelsey Watt each took three shots to lead the Oles.

Gustavus returns to the pitch Sunday afternoon with a non-conference match at Luther, before returning home to host Macalester next Saturday.
