The Gustavus women’s tennis team opened its Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule with a pair of 9-0 wins over Bethel and Macalester Saturday at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter.
The Gusties failed to drop a set in either dual as Lauren Hom, Marla Menne, Darcy Haubrick, Hannah Frericks, Jenny Arnfelt and Alex Burleigh were double-winners against Bethel and Tara Houlihan, Lyndsey Palen, Jaime Gaard, Jenni White and Laura Arnebeck were double-winners against the Scots. Arnebeck teamed with Erica Dobson to pick up a win at #3 doubles, while Jill Bailey posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Becky Schneider at #6 singles.
Gustavus improves to 6-1 overall, 2-0 in the MIAC with the victories and is off next weekend before facing Minnesota State Mankato, St. Thomas and Luther College on March 4.
