Gustavus Adolphus junior goalie Kitty Hurley (Minnetonka, Minn.) has been named MIAC Women’s Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 12, 2006. Hurley turned away 45 of 49 shots to help Gustavus claim a 4-1 win and a 3-3 tie against St. Thomas last weekend.

Hurley made 27 saves in a 3-3 overtime tie on Friday night in St. Peter including a very important stop on a Tommie breakaway in the overtime session. She recorded 18 saves on Saturday night at St. Thomas including stops on two breakaways by St. Thomas in the third period. Gustavus captured three points in the key weekend series, and the team now has the inside track on winning the MIAC title with four games left to play. Hurley leads the MIAC with a goals against average of 1.03 and ranks second in save percentage at 93.3 percent. She has compiled an overall record of 8-3-2 with a goals against average of 1.51.

Gustavus is now 16-3-2 overall and 13-0-1 in the MIAC.
