Women’s Hockey Extends Unbeaten String to 15 with 10-0 Win at St. Olaf Posted on January 30th, 2006 by

The Gustavus women’s hockey team continued its offensive onslaught with an impressive 10-0 win at St. Olaf on Saturday night. The Gusties outscored the Oles 22-2 in the two game series this past weekend. Andrea Peterson led Gustavus with four goals and four assists for eight points in the two games. The Gusties improve to 14-1-1 overall and 12-0-0 in the MIAC.

On Saturday night in Northfield, Gustavus jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first period and extended the lead to 10-0 through two periods. The Gusties outscored the Oles 12-0 in the first period in the two game series.

Andrea Peterson and Abbie Randall tallied four points with two goals and two assists each. Molly Doyle added two goals and an assist , while three others scored two points including Stefanie Ubl (1g, 1a), Margaret Dorer (2a), and Bridgette Bartholdi (2a). Sarah Heinbigner, Ingrid Neve, and Jaclyn Dufault tallied one goal each for the Gusties.

Junior Kitty Hurley made 17 saves and recorded her first complete game shutout of the season. Hurley leads Division III in goals against average at 1.19. Her record is 7-1-1 overall.

The Gusties scored four power play goals in eight attempts and currently lead the nation in power play percentage at 33.3 percent (33-96).

Coach Mike Carroll’s squad will take an important trip out East this week to face #2 Plattsburgh State on Thursday, #1 Middlebury on Friday, and Williams College on Saturday.
