The Gustavus gymnastics team claimed its third dual meet win of the season by outscoring UW-Oshkosh 171.15 to 165.75 on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter. The Gusties claimed first place individual finishes on each of the four apparatus. Danielle Abel won the vault (9.10), Laura Hansen won the uneven bars (8.80), Jaime Tsurasaki won the balance beam (8.725), and Nicole Gergen won the floor exercise (8.85).

Coach Kris Glidden’s squad was able to post its second consecutive dual meet score over 171.00 after having recorded a 171.60 score at UW-Stout this past Monday. The team posted a season high score of 41.225 on the uneven bars and added totals of 44.65 on the vault, 42.125 on the balance beam, and 43.15 on the floor exercise. Gustavus is averaging a team score of 170.39 in its four dual meets this season.

On the vault, the Gusties claimed the first three places including Danielle Abel finishing first (9.10), and Emily Pickford and Brittany Moore tying for second place (9.00). Others scoring for Gustavus included Catherine Osterhaus (8.80), and Greta Blomme (8.75).

On the uneven bars, Gustavus was led by Laura Hansen who finshed first with a score of 8.80. Others scoring for Gustavus included Danielle Abel in sixth place at 8.25, Emily Pickford in seventh place at 8.15, Christine Askham in eighth place at 8.075, and Audrey Schenewerk tying for ninth place at 7.95.

On the balance beam, Jaime Tsurasaki finished first with a career best score of 8.725. She was followed by Laura Hansen in second at 8.60, Nicole Gergen in fourth at 8.40, Catherine Osterhaus in fifth at 8.25, and Christine Askham in eighth at 8.15.

The Gusties wrapped up the meet on the floor exercise and Nicole Gergen saved her best for last as the junior finished first with a total of 8.85. Christine Askham placed second at 8.80, while Kyleen Oleson finished third at 8.75, Catherine Osterhaus placed fourth at 8.70, and Dana Ryerson finished ninth at 8.05.

Gustavus will participate in the Gershon Invitational at the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse next Friday evening. The meet will begin at 6:00 pm.
