Gustavus Adolphus sophomore guard Jess Vadnais (Hudson, Wis.) has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 8, 2006. Vadnais led the Gusties to a pair of conference victories this past week, averaging 20.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in wins over Saint Mary’s and Bethel.

Vadnais made 8-of-18 from the field and 4-of-8 from three point range for a game-high 23 points in a 70-58 win over Saint Mary’s on Wednesday, head coach Mickey Haller’s 100th at the helm of the Gustavus program. Vadnais followed that performance up with 17 points in a 78-63 win over Bethel on Saturday. Vadnais is currently tied for tenth nationally in Division III in free-throw percentage (40-of-44). She entered the week 34-of-37 at the free throw line and proceeded to sink 6-of-7 attempts from the charity stripe during the week. She also had just two turnovers in 33 minutes a game.
