Alex Zupan (Jr., Monona, Wisc.) finished 23rd overall to lead the Gustavus men’s cross country team to an eighth place finish at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday. The Gusties amassed 242 total points, while Minnesota State, Mankato took the team title with 57 points. The Mavericks placed three runners in the top ten and two others in the top 25.
Zupan, a junior, traversed the 8-kilometer course in 27:21, crossing just ahead of Macalester’s David Auguston. Freshman Dan Foley (Minneapolis, Minn.) stopped the clock next for the Gusties, placing 52nd in a time of 28:40, just two seconds ahead of senior Andy Rishavy (Alexandria, Minn.), who placed 54th.
The Gusties are next in action next weekend at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota.
