Gustavus junior pitcher Josh Spitzack has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for his complete game no-hitter against Carleton on Saturday, April 2.

Spitzack, a native of West Concord, Minn., who attended Triton High School, threw a 7-inning no-hitter as the Gusties opened MIAC play with a 5-0 win over Carleton in Northfield last Saturday. Spitzack faced 24 batters (three over the minimum) walking three batters and having one reach on an error. He picked one of the batters he walked off first base in the first inning. Spitzack struck out seven batters and coerced nine more to ground into infield outs. It is the first complete game no-hitter thrown by a Gustavus pitcher in over 30 years. Spitzack is now 3-1 on the season with an earned run average of 1.57. The Gusties are now 8-8 overall and 2-0 in the MIAC.
