Men’s Swimming Wins St. Cloud State Invitational

The Gustavus men’s swimming team recorded 1,432 points to win the St. Cloud State Invitational on Saturday, November 6. The Gusties claimed seven out of the nine event titles to finish 592 points ahead of second place St. Cloud State.

The Gustavus men’s swimming team competed in the St. Cloud State Invitational at the Halenbeck Aquatic Center in St. Cloud, Minn. on Saturday, November 6. The Gusties recorded 1,432 points and claimed seven out of nine event titles to win the invitational. Gustavus finished 592 points ahead of second place St. Cloud State with 840 points. UW-Eau Claire placed third with 421 points, Minnesota State Mankato placed fourth with 223 points and Morningside College placed fifth with 164 points.

The Gusties won the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 medley relay on Saturday. The team of Brian Amundson, Evan Christianson, Will Sutor and Scott Hagemeyer won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:28.22. The team of Jeff Pearson, Brad Hammer, Jonah Winter and Will Sutor won the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:44.27.

Gustavus claimed five individual titles on Saturday. Scott Hagemeyer won the 100 backstroke and the 50 freestyle with times of 55.80 and 22.07, respectively. Ben Hanson won the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:56.78. Will Sutor won the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.93. Greg Pokorski won the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:26.44.

Gustavus will travel to Northfield, Minn. to face St. Olaf College in a dual meet on Friday, November 12. The Gusties will then host Minnesota State University-Mankato on Saturday, November 13.
