The Gustavus men’s track and field team placed fifth in the MIAC Indoor Championships which were held at the McNeely Spectrum on the campus of Saint John’s University March 4-6. Gustavus claimed one relay title and five student athletes earned all-conference honors at the championships.
The team of Anthony Schulzetenberg (Freshman, Greenwald, Minn.), Adam Caulfied (Freshman, Woodbury, Minn.), Matt Wittman (Sophomore, Willmar, Minn.), and Jack Henkemeyer (Sophomore, Plymouth, Minn.) claimed the 4×400-meter relay title with a time of 3:24.89. Henkemeyer made up 25-meters in the anchor leg to win the relay title for the Gusties. All members of the team earned all-conference honors.
Henkemeyer also received all-conference honors in the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash. He placed third in each event and recorded a NCAA provisional time of 49.76 in the 400-meter dash. Tanner Miest (Freshman, New London-Spicer, Minn.) finished in second place in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.91, which earned him all-conference honors.
