Erich Ziegler Named Men’s Nordic Skier of the Year Posted on March 10th, 2004 by

Gustavus Adolphus Nordic Skier Erich Ziegler (Sophomore, Crystal Falls, Mich.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Nordic Skier of the Year for 2004. The total points earned at the five Central Collegiate Ski Association race and the conference championships are added together to determine the skier of the year. Ziegler totaled 105 points in five CCSA races and the MIAC Championships.

Ziegler won both the freestyle and classical races in the 2004 MIAC Championships held at Graystone Trails in Saint Cloud, Minnesota. Gustavus claimed its first ever MIAC team title totaling 64 points at the championships. Ziegler’s performance at the conference championships earned him all-conference honors in the both races. He finished in 13th place in the classical race and 17th place in the freestyle race at the NCAA Central Regional Championships, which were held at Michigan Tech University in Houghton, Michigan. The men finished in fourth place overall in the regional championships with a total of 109 points.
